This is a translation of the Vietnamese privacy policy. If the two versions differ, the Vietnamese version prevails.
Your location
The app asks for location permission to:
- Show pagodas, temples, communal houses and shrines near you on the map and calculate distances
- Confirm that you are at a site when you check in
- Remind you when you are near a site, only if you turn on automatic check-in reminders (“Notify me near places of worship”)
Your location is read only after you have granted permission. Automatic check-in reminders are off by default; you can turn them on or off at any time in the app's Settings or in your device's system settings.
Account
You can browse the list and the map of sites without signing in. When you sign in to check in, follow sites or join the community, we store:
- Your phone number, if you sign in with a one-time code (OTP)
- The display name, email address and profile photo provided by Google or Apple, if you sign in with either of these services
- An account identifier used to authenticate your session
We do not know and do not store your Google or Apple password.
Content you create
- Check-in seals: the place, the time and any photos you add
- Posts, comments, photos and likes in Community
- Sites you follow or add to your favorites
- Your practice streak and practice time in Practice
- Your profile: name, bio, profile photo
Posts and comments in Community are publicly visible to other users, together with your display name. You can edit or delete your content at any time in the app.
Push notifications
If you allow it, the app uses Apple's and Google's notification services to notify you about sites you follow and about interactions in the community. You can turn notifications off in your device's system settings.
Technical data
Our servers log errors and basic technical information about your device (operating system, app version) so we can fix problems. The vantam.app website uses cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits.
The website also uses PostHog (with servers in the United States) to know how many people view its pages and tap the buttons to download the app from the App Store or Google Play, and which channel they came from (the utm parameters in the link). PostHog stores a random ID in your browser's storage and in a cookie so that one person is not counted twice. We do not record what happens on your screen, we do not link this data to your name, email or phone number, and we do not use it for advertising. If your browser has Do Not Track turned on, PostHog is not loaded. The mobile app does not use PostHog.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent or share personal data for advertising purposes. Data passes only through the infrastructure providers needed to run the app: server hosting, Google and Apple sign-in, push notification services, maps, and the website's visit analytics tools (Cloudflare, PostHog).
Security
- All connections are encrypted with HTTPS
- Session tokens are stored in your operating system's secure storage
- Photos and content are stored on servers in the Singapore region
Retention and deletion
Data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account right in the app, under Profile, or send a request to apps@vthgroup.vn. All personal data is erased from our systems within 30 days of the request.
Your rights
- View and download the data we hold about you
- Edit your profile information
- Delete your content and your account
- Withdraw location and notification permissions at any time
Children
The app is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, let us know by email and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes significantly, we will let you know in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
